Member Assistance Program Announced

Golf Management Australia has announced a GMA Member Assistance Program, to be sponsored by the Qantas Golf Club.

The Member Assistance Program (MAP) is provided to GMA members and their immediate family through service provider, Acacia Connections, a national independent service provider specialising in supporting people in dealing with personal or work-related issues in a positive way. 

The MAP involves a 24-hour counselling service of highly qualified, registered psychologists and counsellors across Australia, for GMA members and their immediate family to access.  The service is highly confidential and there is no disclosure of any individual information to GMA relating to your sessions. 

The MAP includes short term counselling of up to 3 hourly sessions per member per year and can assist for a range of issues including:

  • Depression and anxiety
  • Relationship and marriage difficulties
  • Family and parenting issues
  • Managing grief or loss
  • Illness adjustment and management
  • Stress management
  • Addiction and substance abuse
  • Work related stress
  • Financial coaching – helps with managing financial difficulties and budgeting
  • Legal referral – assists with short term legal referral to necessary legal services
  • Sleep disorders
  • Dietician support
  • Eating disorders
  • Domestic violence
  • Mental Illness
  • And any other issues you may be faced with in your work or personal life

The MAP is being supported by the Qantas Golf Club, which recognised the need for GMA members to have the opportunity to access immediate help should issues within a members’ personal or professional life become difficult. 

Qantas Golf Club’s James Cooper said, “Qantas Golf Club is delighted to support such a fantastic initiative by GMA in support of their members and having been involved in organisations before that provide these types of services, we truly appreciate how important they can be”.

GMA will work with state bodies over the coming months to provide more information relating to the program at state members meetings, however the program can be accessed immediately by GMA members via the below contact details, with further support details in the members section of the website.

Access confidential counselling by calling Acacia Connection 24 hours a day on 1300 364 273 or you can lodge an appointment request online at www.acaciaconnection.com.  You can also receive counselling via SMS as part of the new Easy Talk service – simply text 0401 33 77 11 to receive support from a qualified psychologist.
